This weekend my Mom and her best friend Debbie came to visit. They are always welcome to Mendenhall because they typically bring a tremendous amount of energy for yard work and a surplus of good wine and good food. Unfortunately, with my busy schedule I had no time to spend with them when they arrived on Friday night. They literally came to my office – picked up The W (puppy Winston) and went to my house to spend an evening without me while I was at a work event.
Of course, I couldnt welcome them without dinner ready in the fridge. I easily put together Ina Garten’s recipe for Mac and Cheese with Truffles on Thursday night and left instructions for them. Four easy steps: 1. Bake the mac and cheese at 375 degrees for about and hour. 2. Make a salad from the ingredients in the fridge. 3. Take a photo for my blog. 4. Enjoy – I’ll be home around 8:30.

I arrived back home around 8:30 to enjoy leftovers and play a guessing game on what type of cheese I used. We enjoyed the leftovers for lunch both Saturday and Sunday while we worked in the yard.
